Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo scored against Arsenal and named the goal after his late son, who died earlier this week.

It may be recalled that last week was a tumultuous one for Ronaldo when he and his teammate Georgina Rodriguez announced the death of their son in an official statement. In the statement, the couple also confirmed the birth of their daughter.

Cristiano Ronaldo dedicated his 100th Premier League goal to his dying son.

 

Manchester United was trailing 0-2 in the game against Arsenal, but Ronaldo scored in the 34th minute to take the score to 1-2.

After scoring, the Portuguese striker looked up at the sky and gestured to pay tribute to his late son.

In the 34th minute of the game, Ronaldo converted Arsenal’s goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale by converting Nemanja Matic’s cross into a goal.

With this goal, Ronaldo became the first player to score 100 goals in La Liga and the Premier League. However, United lost the game 1-3 when the Gunners were scored by Nono Towers, Bokayo Saka, and Granit Zaka.

Ronaldo was knocked out of the Premier League against Liverpool after the death of his son.

Earlier, Liverpool and Arsenal fans clapped for a minute in the seventh minute of the game to pay their respects to Ronaldo.

Reds fans sang “You will never walk alone” during a match between United and Liverpool to pay tribute to Ronaldo.
